The spark
I save a lot of videos to review later but kept losing the thread of what I actually learnt from them. Typing out notes manually felt like busywork, and there was no easy way to pull the content into Claude without re-watching or describing it by hand.
What was built
What started as a one-field transcriber grew into VideoNote. It uses YouTube captions when it can and otherwise transcribes the audio with Whisper large v3 turbo on Groq, then writes a chapter timeline, notes, flashcards and a quiz you can question. Google sign in, prepaid Pro passes through Razorpay and a Redis usage meter all run on one Python function, live on videonote.in behind Cloudflare.
